AN IMPORTANT PROJECT NEEDING FULL SUPPORT
For a long time the church officers have been thinking
about the needs of the people and groups who use our church premises. As well as
the Sunday congregation and the weekly church activities, a wide variety of
community groups enjoy the use of these premises and it is good to think that
many others may want to in the future. However, the premises are now showing
their age, and what is required to meet the latest standards of access, safety
and comfort mean that it is necessary to modernise and improve the accommodation
and the facilities we can offer to the Shifnal community.
So a scheme has been devised to do just that and so we launch our appeal for
what we have called the -
TRINITY COMMUNITY PROJECT
The Church has just launched the scheme which will cost £435,000.
The main emphasis is the refurbishment of the main hall into a much better area
for public use: the upgrading of the catering and hospitality arrangements for
all kinds of functions: the separation of areas within the Church itself to
cater for different size groups and with more effective lighting and heating.
Because it is a building for everyone, the front and rear entrances will be
made accessible to people of every ability, as will new toilet and washroom
facilities.
The overall project will cost around £435,000 including fees, VAT and
contingencies - based on a figure produced by the architect.
of this figure some monies have already been secured.
We estimate that grants so far could raise
£154,000, with other applications made to various Trust and charities we have
hopes of raising a further £81,000. The balance is our own responsibility and so
our target is approximately £200.000, an average of £2500 per member to be
achieved if we have the support of friends of the church and members of the
Shifnal community, because a successful project will bring great benefit to the
whole of Shifnal.
